Community Focus

Our mission is to provide customers and communities with affordable, reliable, fiber optic service solutions and superior customer care.
We will work to educate communities about the benefits and value of high-speed internet.
We will continually invest in partner communities to help them grow cohesively with the direction of the modern age.

We help local leaders bridge the digital divide with comprehensive assistance every step of the way.

Infrastructure Planning and Development

Being the first fiber to the home provider in the area, Mainstream Fiber Networks has the deployment experience leading to a proven track record of meeting and exceeding project timelines and service area coverage. In Harrison County, Mainstream was able to deploy 330 miles of fiber in 24 months that gave 80 percent of the population access to high-speed fiber internet in under 2 years.

Exploring Funding Opportunities

At MSFN, our focus is making sure that rural communities are operating on the same level playing field as the larger, more populated, urban city centers.  We realize that half the battle might be securing the necessary funding for new large-scale infrastructure projects. Our team partners with the community to explore all potential funding opportunities that may be available, both within and outside the community.

Economic Development Consulting

Access to high speed fiber internet and the ability to scale for future growth make tech parks truly “shovel ready” for commercial expansion, gives the community access to a better quality of life and educational resources to avoid the “brain drain” or urban migration from the community, and gives the community a sense of being on a level playing field with larger city centers.  The aforementioned points are why we usually start discussions with economic development representatives prior to beginning a county project.

Broadband Committee Formation

When considering a broadband fiber expansion plan, there are several steps a community can take to help ease potential concerns that may arise around construction, permitting, and implementation of such a project.

Mainstream Fiber Networks understands how complex this task can be and we are happy to discuss how the community can facilitate each point and address what these individual items mean in relation to an overall project timeline.

Creating Broadband Ready Communities

With Mainstream Fiber’s in house engineering and experience in network development, paired with the feedback from partnerships within the community, allow us to form a network designed specifically to your community’s needs.

Our team will work to connect all the necessary government, industry, small business, and critical community assets with an overbuilt network design providing the most up to date technology with a future proof infrastructure.

Proven success in network deployment

Facilitation with funding assistance

At Mainstream, our focus is making sure that rural communities are operating on the same level playing field as the larger, more populated, urban city centers.  We realize that half the battle might be securing the necessary funding for new large-scale infrastructure projects. Our team partners with the community to explore all potential funding opportunities that may be available, both within and outside the community.

Provide comprehensive community infrastructure

We at Mainstream understand how critical high-speed fiber internet is to everyday operations for a home, business, industry, town, or county. As part of our partnership, we will work to identify the critical infrastructure, where access to fiber will make the largest impact for the community overall.

Some of these facilities may include schools, hospitals, fire and police stations, utility departments, government offices, tech parks, and other large anchor tenants who are usually the top employers in the area. As part of future proofing our network, our engineering team overbuilds the mainline of fiber in order to help support the growing demand from the community for years to come.

Community guidance with broadband consultation

Mainstream’s team works alongside community leaders to manage the project from start to finish. Mainstream can assist with everything from initial community engagement and planning, to connecting end users once a project is completed.

Some of these tasks include community consultations to outline overall needs, Broadband Committee development, identifying critical infrastructure, network design and engineering, identifying potential sources of funding, construction, connection, and end-user services. Mainstream is happy to be a resource to anyone investigating all the parts surrounding broadband internet in their community.

Economic development consulting

Understanding what access to high speed fiber internet can mean for a rural economy often drives the local Economic Community Development representatives to lead the charge in bringing fiber to their community.

Access to high speed fiber internet and the ability to scale for future growth make tech parks truly “shovel ready” for commercial expansion, gives the community access to a better quality of life and educational resources to avoid the “brain drain” or urban migration from the community, gives farms the connectivity they need to fully utilize the capabilities of their devices for better precision agriculture practices and connectivity to vendors, and gives the community a sense of being on a level playing field with larger city centers.

Blue Harrison

Partnership Case: Harrison County

330 miles of mainline fiber optic cable now connects nearly 150 neighborhoods, 10 towns, and services over 80% of the county’s population.

Mainstream and the Harrison County Community Real Estate Supporting Organization (RESO) began working together before 2016 to discuss the completion of 115 miles of fiber optic cable to serve as the initial backbone for fiber optic communications in Harrison County, Indiana.

This mainline infrastructure was completed in September 2018 with 120 miles of side expansions built in addition to the initial 115 mainline loop.  This project provides access to approximately 8,900 homes and businesses by June 30, 2019.  During the project, Mainstream worked closely with local organizations to become involved within the community, established a retial location, and hired new team members directly from the county.

Mainstream intends to continue serving and expanding throughout Harrison County, to ensure that its citizens have access to the same level of quality broadband internet that has graced other, larger urban communities.
